How do I use Dell Webcam effects with Windows Live Messenger?

Whenever I go to show my webcam in messenger, it shows my video fine, but whenever I add an effect, the video of me turns into the standard test pattern looking thing, 8 or 9 vertical coloured lines.





Is this supposed to work? If so, how! Thanks!
