Can your boss track what you say on windows live messenger?

If you're using it at work?

That's what we use to communicate appointments and everything so we have each other on our lists. So if me and my co worker are talking about personal stuff can the IT tech guy track what we are saying from his computer?

Can your boss track what you say on windows live messenger?
can and do are two different things. I am a Network Administrator. I can do such things, but I don't for two reasons:

1. I'm too busy. I have better things to do.

2. I'm a professional. I don't read other people's stuff unless management asks me to. They don't ask me to unless they already suspect that there is a labor problem.
Reply:the only way he can track your messages if you have live messenger save all archieve messages when you log off...go into personal options..and under the tab messages...just make sure the box entitiled keep all messages when logging off is unmarked.....
Reply:The IT guy, yes.

Random employee, probably not.

The IT department can view any and all traffic going over the network.
Reply:Yes, anything you do at work can be tracked, viewed, recorded and later used against you as cause for termination.
Reply:Lets hope you didn't post this from work because simple answer is... YES! They can install keylogger or screen caps which can monitor your key strokes typed or record the screen.
Reply:very much so!
